GURHAN is proudly lending its support to save the Amazon Rainforests, one tourmaline at a time. Co-founder of the renowned brand, Fiona Tilley, is a passionate supporter of the environment and believes that it is vital for responsible brands and caring individuals to rise to the occasion when parts of our global community are hurting.
Accordingly, GURHAN is donating 25% of its profits from sales of all its tourmaline jewelry between now and year-end to support the Amazon Rainforest ecosystem and its inhabitants that are impacted by the fires that continue to ravaged the region.
This applies to the sales online – via its own ecommerce site – as well as wholesale sales to its Retailers around the world. In addition to a % of profits, GURHAN is also offering Gift Cards for purchase, the proceeds of which will go to the same cause.
The GURHAN brand sources many of its stones from Brazil, in particular, tourmalines. And this season, one of its most popular collections features these beautiful stones. Making this collection even more special is that Gurhan’s tourmaline designs are one-of-a-kind creations and therefore each is as unique as the extraordinary tourmalines that are dug from the ground in Brazil.
The organization which GURHAN has chosen to receive its contributions is Earth Alliance because 100% of donations to this organization go directly to the Amazon causes it supports. *
GURHAN is a leading, global, fine designer jewelry brand, based in New York city and founded by the husband and wife team of Gurhan Orhan and Fiona Tilley. The brand is renowned for its pioneering jewelry creations in 24k gold and its uncompromising commitment to quality, transparency and authenticity. Gurhan is known as a maverick who has changed the landscape of designer jewelry by reincarnating the ancient techniques of the original goldsmiths in designs that touch the hearts of today’s woman. Staying true to the cultural roots of handmade, hand-hammered artisanship, GURHAN jewelry reminds us all that whether ancient or modern, foreign or in our own backyard, nothing means more than something made by hand and made with love.
* Launched in July, Earth Alliance is a joint environmental conservation project founded by actor Leonardo DiCaprio, philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs, and private equity guru Brian Sheth. The organization formed an Amazon Forest Fund, with an initial $5 million pledge from DiCaprio. The fund will be focusing resources toward local communities and groups working to protect the Amazon, as well as those affected by the fires. Earth Alliance noted five groups so far that will receive funding, including the Kayapo people, the Brazilian chapter of Coordinator of the Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin and the Instituto Socioambiental.
