Govberg Jewelers Opens New Headquarters in Philadelphia Suburbs

New campus supports CEO Danny Govberg's vision of tech-enabled luxury commerce, and the firm's bold growth ambitions.

Govberg Jewelers' new headquarters officially opens in the Philadelphia suburb of Bala Cynwyd, following 18 months of intensive renovation, construction and reimagined services to support luxury watch consumers. With an investment of $8.5 million dollars, Govberg's new 20,000-square-foot building offers an innovative, shared workplace uniting departments previously spread between five facilities: Govberg's pre-owned watch division, marketing, technology, finance, administration and watchmaking.
"Traders" at Govberg Jewelers use technology to meet the demands of today's savvy luxury watch customer.

"The substantial investment in our headquarters represents confidence in the future of the watch category, our positive long-term outlook and our grasp of today's luxury customer," said Danny Govberg, CEO of Govberg Jewelers. "The move is part of our long-term vision for tech-enabled luxury commerce as we become more agile and focused in introducing new concepts to the marketplace. We recognize today's customer wants a trusted partner to buy, sell and trade luxury pre-owned watches with convenience and ease. Our new headquarters provides space and resources to scale these services in a manner unique to the watch category."

Govberg's three-story Bala Cynwyd headquarters eschews the retail industry's familiar "back office" with a construction favoring daylight, incorporating on all floors five-foot tall windows spanning the entire building perimeter. Sunlight floods the first-floor workshop windows of a state-of-the-art watchmaking facility, where nine Swiss-trained watchmakers and refinishers service and repair hundreds of timepieces monthly.

The second floor is home to Govberg's operations, administration and digitally-driven pre-owned watch department, where concierge-style associates engage with clients worldwide from Govberg's "trading floor." This team of "traders" actively acquire luxury timepieces from private collections and estates while also accepting watch trade-ins alongside new purchases. Govberg's pre-owned watch sales and trades are facilitated using proprietary technology, such as the WatchBox by Govberg mobile app, and other digital solutions to meet the demands of a savvy clientele.

The third floor houses Govberg's executive department, which includes marketing, technology, and finance. Community spaces, conference rooms and designated lounge areas are woven into the floorplan, fostering ongoing collaboration, productivity and creativity.

The company culture is recognized in the building's subtle design features: wall clocks by the elite watch brands Govberg Jewelers represents, autographed sports memorabilia from legendary athletes, and dynamic, playful artwork. Larger than life superheroes are literally found around each corner, underscoring Govberg's whimsical and non-traditional approach to the luxury watch industry.

With this new space, Govberg Jewelers channels the company's 101 years of experience, embracing technology to address the evolving needs of the modern watch consumer, while embodying the spirit of today's start-up culture.
