Hundreds of Jewelry Jobs at GIA's Career Fair in New York, July 28

On Monday, July 28, the jewelry industry’s largest recruiting event – with opportunities ranging from design and manufacturing to marketing and sales – will take place at the Javits Center in New York. Nearly 50 world-renowned gem and jewelry companies, including David Yurman, Helzberg Diamonds, New York Loan Company, Paolo Costagli Inc. and Sterling Jewelers Inc., will be looking to fill hundreds of professional positions at every career stage during the GIA New York Jewelry Career Fair.

GIA’s New York Jewelry Career Fair will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 28 at the Javits Center. Recruiters will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This leading industry event is free and open to the public; anyone interested in attending is encouraged to RSVP. JA New York is a major sponsor of the event.

“Career Fair is an excellent opportunity not only to connect with recruiters looking to fill hundreds of positions, but to network with some of the most successful and entrepreneurial personalities in the gem and jewelry industry,” said Kathryn Kimmel, GIA vice president and chief marketing officer, and founder of the GIA Jewelry Career Fair. “You may even discover a career path you hadn’t thought of previously. This is a once-a-year opportunity in New York and I encourage everyone with a passion for jewelry to stop by and see what it’s about.”

In addition to meeting with recruiters and receiving one-on-one career coaching, attendees will hear from prominent industry figures during the opening panel discussion “Job Success in Today’s Market,” which begins at 8:30 a.m. Mercedes Abramo, president and CEO of Cartier North America; Ashley Chan of Leslie Hindman Auctioneers; Andrea Hansen, partner of Luxe Intelligence and president of the Women’s Jewelry Association; Douglas K. Hucker, CEO of AGTA; and Steven Lagos, founder and chief creative director of LAGOS Jewelry, will tell the stories of their unique journeys to success and offer practical advice for aspiring gem and jewelry professionals.

For a full list of companies participating, visit GIA’s website at www.gia.edu/career-fair. GIA hosted its first Jewelry Career Fair in 1991 in Santa Monica, Calif. Since then, the event has expanded, bringing gem and jewelry companies and future employees together at more than 50 events in India, Las Vegas, New York and the GIA world headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif. Following the New York event, the next GIA Carlsbad Jewelry Career Fair will take place on Friday, Oct. 10. F
